Together, We’ll Win—#TollFightsCancer
It’s no secret that Toll Brothers breaks a lot of ground as America’s Luxury Home Builder, but did you know it is also doing its part for breakthroughs? Cancer research breakthroughs, to be exact.
Toll Brothers made a commitment years ago to support the American Cancer Society (ACS) in its mission to free the world from cancer. The annual Toll Gala is the company’s flagship event in its year-round fundraising initiative. This year’s Toll Gala takes place on May 11 at Waterworks in Philadelphia. Every dollar raised at this event goes toward funding the next big breakthrough, helping people prevent cancer, and survive and thrive following a cancer diagnosis.
The Power of Breakthroughs
A breakthrough is the moment that something that once seemed impossible, becomes possible. The moment when things come together and we can finally see our way to the next challenge. It’s the moment we shed light on even the darkest corner.
In cancer research, breakthroughs are tremendous achievements. They define where we are headed in the ongoing fight against cancer, and each one takes us one step closer to the win. Thanks to the ACS, those breakthroughs are happening today, and they’re saving lives.
Right now, ACS researchers are working toward developing simple blood tests to screen for several types of cancer. Tests like these can make it easier and more efficient to detect cancer before symptoms are present. These are the kinds of breakthroughs that can make a difference.
Milestones & Achievements
The beauty of fundraising is that for all that goes into an event, so much more comes out of it. Toll Brothers has seen this first hand, and each year we aim for new heights in our fundraising efforts for the Toll Gala.
We are proud to say that last year we reached a remarkable milestone when we raised more than $1 million, and have contributed more than $8.3 million to the American Cancer Society over the past 13 years. Those contributions have helped fund ACS research that has contributed to a 20% decline in cancer death rates since 1991, and a 50% drop in smoking rates.
But, we’re nowhere near done. This year, on May 11, Toll Brothers will welcome the generosity of its supporters for this great cause for the fourteenth year in a row.
Cancer is very personal, and we all have a story to tell. When it touches a life, it can feel like the fight is between one person, and one cancer. The truth is there is a team fighting alongside that life every day. Doctors, nurses, and researchers all stand shoulder-to-shoulder with patients and caregivers, and Toll Brothers is proud to be a part of that team.
