Toll Brothers and the American Cancer Society Raise Money for Cancer Research
Last updated on December 17th, 2024
On Friday May 13, 2016, over 600 people gathered at Vie in Philadelphia for food, fun, and camaraderie – but most importantly to raise money for research in the fight against cancer. The atmosphere at Vie was extremely festive – the delectable food was plentiful and the specialty drinks were refreshing. The silent auction was full of exciting tickets, gadgets and household items, for which bidding went on electronically all night.
We were lucky enough to host Gary Ready, CEO of American Cancer Society, and his team for the evening. Gary Ready in turn introduced our guest speaker, Dr. Alexander Perl – a leading researcher at the Hospital at the University of Pennsylvania, specializing in finding a cure for leukemia and other blood cancers. After Dr. Perl, the guests were treated to Toll Brothers’ live auction team of CEO, Doug Yearley and CFO, Marty Connor – entertaining as always.
During the live auction, 10 lucky winners of the “Toll Tower Raffle” were called to claim prizes ranging from Tiffany & Co. jewelry to KitchenAid appliances to iPads. The rest of the evening was spent dancing to the sounds of Deja Groove, the official band of the 2016 Gala.
The Gala, and all of the employee events that support it (Wing Bowl, Jeans/Spirit Day, Tesla Test Drives, Golf Club activities), will net over $750,000 – all of which goes directly to research in the fight against cancer.
