Toll Brothers' Commitment to Bergen County

Toll Brothers understands that concerns have been raised with respect to the development of the former Apple Ridge Golf Course in Upper Saddle River, New Jersey where Toll Brothers is developing our "Orchard Ridge" community. This site was successfully remediated as of December 2017. The post-remedial soil testing on the site concluded that the soil meets the New Jersey DEP's most stringent residential standards. The Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) determined that the remediation was conducted in accordance with the applicable remediation regulations and guidance and that the remediation protects the public health and safety and the environment.

In May 2019, the DEP confirmed in a letter that "remediation of this site was consistent with DEP regulations. DEP considers the remediation case to be closed." In regards to soil erosion, the DEP letter also states, "allegations of unauthorized discharges of soil and sediment, into Pleasant Brook, including allegations of "mud" being dumped and/or pumped directly into Pleasant Brook, have been investigated and DEP has determined these allegations to be unfounded."

Toll Brothers has worked very closely with the Township, its engineers and the DEP throughout the remediation and development process and will continue to do so as we finalize our communities. Toll Brothers is proud to be building in Bergen County. We are committed to being good neighbors and minimizing impacts of our construction while providing updates on our ongoing activity in Upper Saddle River. Questions should be directed to Toll Brothers: (877) 330-TOLL (8655) or TollBergenCommitment@TollBrothers.com.
